2024 Fall Recreational Soccer

At the heart of the LMSA soccer program is the Recreational Division. LMSA has been serving the soccer playing youth and families of La Mirada since 2008. At the same time providing participation opportunities for all the other members of a family. Adults can volunteer to be a coach, asst coach, a team parent or even help administer the program by volunteering to help the Board of Directors as an assistant or even becoming a member. In addition, any family member, 14 years of age or older, can become an LMSA paid referee.

The program strives to ensure that every child can have the opportunity to experience the beautiful game of soccer in a fun safe and fair environment. LMSA program offers a low cost, low travel, low time commitment environment. While at the same time ensuring that all players in the U10 Divisions and younger are playing at least 1/2 of every game. U12 and above must play at least half of every game.

LMSA Soccer Seasons
We offer two (2) seasons for our Recreational Program. Our Fall soccer season runs from August to December while our Spring soccer season runs from February to May. Each program requires separate registration and fees.
Games during the Fall are played on Saturdays, while games during the Spring are played on Sundays. *Game days for U14 may be played on Saturday and/or Sunday.

2024-2025 Season
Fee Required by our governing body Cal South for each registrant
  • Cal South Membership Fee of $12 will be added to your cart at the time of checkout.

Non-La Mirada Residents are subject to a $15 non-resident fee per registration. 
**IF RESIDENCY IS BELOW 75%, SOME NON-RESIDENTS MAY BE REFUNDED (less Cal South Membership fee and service fees) TO MAINTAIN CITY MANDATED RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED SNACK BAR BUY-IN
Teams will be required to participate in LMSA's Snack Bar Buy-In of $50 per team.
Funds collected will be used to support the snack bar through-out the season.

Fall registration fees include uniform, standard picture packet and end of season awards.

Coaches and Team Parents
Our soccer program runs on the strength of its volunteers and the support of parents, family and the community. All of our coaches and team parents are volunteers. In order for all of our registered players to participate and get on the pitch, each team requires a head coach.
**If we do not have enough volunteer head coaches, we may need to turn players away.

Practices
  • Practice days/times are determined after all teams have been formed and each team has been assigned a head coach.
  • Team soccer practices are based on the schedule selected by the head coach (M/W or T/Th).
  • Please keep in mind practices may start as early as 5:00pm or as late as 6:30pm.
  • U5 & U6 Divisions practice once a week, unless head coach opts to practice twice a week.
  • U10 and up have practices twice a week.
  • Lil Kickers practices are held on game day, 30 mins before the game. Lil kickers have a 1-hour time slot, 30 mins practice and 30 mins game time.

2024-2025 Fall and Spring Seasons; Divisions are based on player's BIRTH YEAR, NOT birth date or school grade; no exceptions.
  • Lil Kickers: 2021
  • U5: 2020
  • U6: 2019
  • U8: 2017-2018
  • U10: 2015-2016
  • U12: 2013-2014
  • U14: 2011-2012

U5 & U6 Divisions
  • If we receive low registration numbers for these two divisions, we will COMBINE the two divisions. Players born in 2020 and 2021 will be required to play together in the combined division of U6.

U12 & U14 Divisions
  • Due to the number of registrations in these divisions, players might have to play in the JUSA league or similar and may be required to travel for AWAY Games. Away games will be in neighboring cities such as Anaheim, Whittier, Placentia, Yorba Linda and possibly Long Beach.
  • Teams may be required to pay for referee fees for AWAY games. Please contact our director of coaches, [email protected], should should you have any questions

All recreational teams are balanced as much as humanly possible to ensure all teams are competitive. Returning players are rated by their previous coach with input from other coaches in that division. New players are required to participate in a skills tryout day to be rated and put into the divisions pool. Lil Kickers and U6 divisions are not rated and do not have to attend evaluation day.

Although LMSA is considered recreational, there are playoffs and champions crowned locally every Fall for our U8, U10 and U12 divisions. 

Post-Season
During the post-season, teams that qualify by placing during the regular season (U10 & higher) may have the opportunity to participate in the Cal South Commissioner's Cup. In addition, players from our U10 and upper divisions may be selected to participate on the LMSA REC ALL–STAR teams. Selected players/teams will participate in the JUSA and/or Cal South Recreational Championship tournaments which are held in December and January.

SPECIAL PLAYER REQUESTS
  • No “Play-Up” requests unless the parent is the head coach of the team or with approval of the LMSA Board of Directors.
  • There are NO SPECIAL PLAY REQUESTS ("To play with_______________" AND/OR "To play for ____________"), ONLY coach freezes. 
  • Requests will be considered at the discretion of the board and our director of players. 
  • Parents/Family Members-Consider volunteering to coach in order to have your kids play together with their friend/cousin

Coach's Freeze Form - Must be emailed to our Director of Players, [email protected], NO LATER THAN JULY 18th (submitting a freeze form does not guarantee you a team).

Note: Any requests made after the registration deadline may not be accommodated; requests are NOT guaranteed.

07/12/2024 - Last Day to Request a Refund; NO REFUNDS AFTER THIS DATE
**All refund requests must be submitted via email to [email protected] no later than 07/12/2024.
07/13/2024 - Evaluation Day (U8, U10 & U12 players only)
08/19/2024 - Practices will start this week (Practice schedule will be provided BY YOUR HEAD COACH)
09/07/2024 - Opening Day
**Games will begin early September-End in November *before Thanksgiving)

**YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE YOUR CHILD'S TEAM ASSIGNMENT UNTIL EARLY TO MID-AUGUST **
